Azerbaijan has completed the implementation of another twinning project with the European Union
The closing ceremony of the "Twinning Project on Increasing the Potential of the Ministry of Agriculture to Increase the Efficiency and Effectiveness of State Aid to Agriculture" was held within the framework of the joint cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the European Union.
Ilhama Gadimova, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who opened the event with an opening speech, said that the work carried out on the Twinning project, which was completed within the framework of successful cooperation with the European Union, played an important role in achieving the predetermined goals. The implementation of the project made a significant contribution to the development of rural areas, increasing the efficiency of state support in this area, increasing productivity, producing quality products, and protecting land and water resources. The deputy minister added that since the continuation of cooperation with international organizations is always considered a priority, in the future, cooperation will be developed in the direction of studying and applying the best international practices in the development of rural areas, strengthening competitiveness in agricultural fields, development of the agro-tourism sector, and joint activities of small farms. can be done.
Speaking at the event, Zoltan Szalai, Deputy Head of the European Union Representation in Azerbaijan, spoke about the importance of relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan. He also stressed the importance of further development of joint cooperation in the field of agriculture. The ambassadors of Italy, Lithuania and Poland, among the countries acting as partners in the twinning project, also touched upon the prospects and future plans of cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The chairman of Agrarian Credit and Development Agency Seymur Movlayev in his speech informed about the works carried out during the nearly 3 years of the Twinning project in the framework of cooperation with the European Union, the measures implemented and the directions of joint cooperation in the future.
It should be noted that the agency responsible for the implementation and coordination of the Twinning project is the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture. The purpose of the twinning project is to support the implementation of the government's policy on diversifying the economy, reducing regional disparities, and improving living standards in rural areas by providing support to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the state support system for agriculture and rural development.
